In Love of Lori

Tuesday, May 03, 2005

So how many women do we know that graduated from West Point back when in the early 80's when it was all a very new idea?

I have been and always will be a huge admirer of Lori, for the intelligence, guts and strength of character that it must have taken to get through that unique and challenging experience.

Further, Lori was fascinated by and traveled to Vietnam. She really tried to understand what happened there, both from a historcal perspective, and in an emotional sense in terms of what happened with her father, who is a Vietnam combat veteran. Again, not many daughters would have taken that on. And, of course, doing this while balancing what she knew to be her most important mission of being a great mom and wife.
I wish I could be at West Point with my wife, Jane, on Monday. Lori will be saluted there in a manner as special and unique as she was a person, and she will always be remembered by those of us she touched.
